Right On Republic: South Springfield businesses team up to create new business district
Organizers say Republic Road boasts more than 140 businesses
SPRINGFIELD, Mo —
They think of it as “The Heartbeat of South Springfield.”
A group of Springfield business owners have created a new business district.
It’s called Right On Republic – and organizers are inviting all businesses on Republic Road between Campbell and Glenstone Avenues to join.
Some store owners we spoke to don’t have a Facebook page, don’t have a website — they don’t even have a logo.
So, they think teaming up will help everyone and put this area on the map for springfield shoppers.
Organizers say the idea is to create a large marketing co-op. The business district can host festivals, fairs, sales and cross-promote each other’s businesses.
One of those store owners is Jennifer Choi. She and her husband own Rose’s Jewelers in one of the strip malls on Republic Road.
Choi says drivers pass by the area everyday without even knowing what they’re missing.
Choi says the area has a lot to offer to busy shoppers.
“We’re right in your neighborhood and while it’s glamorous to go downtown or fun to go to the mall, a lot of people just want to get in and get out,” Choi says. “People are busy. They don’t want to mess with finding parking, hike a few miles in from mall parking and then traverse other places. Sometimes you just want in and out.”
Choi and the other founding partners say Republic Road boasts 24 restaurants and more than 140 stores.
They also estimate 22,000 people live within five minutes driving distances from the area.
Choi and her colleagues think Right On Republic will be just as attractive as other business districts – including Commercial Street and It’s All Downtown.
